Ultimate Blog Tour #2: ‘Chasing Graves’ by Ben Galley – First Chapter Review

Hey guys,

It’s still my hiatus, and I’m still not ready to come full back… And I have to admit that until a couple of days ago, I completely forgot about the second ultimate blog tour!! ๐Ÿ™€๐Ÿ™Š I’m so ashamed… I was so excited about it before… It’s just things have been really rough for me lately.

Anyways, here I am, at last being part of the tour, and I can say that I am honestly excited about finishing the book.

…that is, because I originally committed to a first chapter review, and as things are, that’s what I can do right now. Hopefully, I’ll be able to post a full review soon.

It’s actually a very interesting and challenging thing to do, this is the very first time that I write a review after only having read one chapter of a book.

Here’s all that you should know about ‘Chasing Graves’ by Ben Galley

About the Book

Chasing Graves

Book one of The Chasing Graves Trilogy

Welcome to Araxes, where getting murdered is just the start of your problems.

Meet Caltro Basalt. Heโ€™s a master locksmith, a selfish bastard, and as of his first night in Araxes, stone cold dead. They call it the City of Countless Souls, the colossal jewel of the Arctian Empire, and all it takes to be its ruler is to own more ghosts than any other. For in Araxes, the dead do not rest in peace in the afterlife, but live on as slaves for the rich. While Caltro struggles to survive, those around him strive for the emperorโ€™s throne in Araxesโ€™ cutthroat game of power. The dead gods whisper from corpses, a soulstealer seeks to make a name for himself with the help of an ancient cult, a princess plots to purge the emperor from his armoured Sanctuary, and a murderer drags a body across the desert, intent on reaching Araxes no matter the cost.Only one thing is certain in Araxes: death is just the beginning.

First Chapter Review

I honestly have no idea how to do this, please forgive me! ๐Ÿ™ˆ

I actually read the so-called Prelude and the first chapter, so it’s even a little bit more than simply a first chapter, though I must admit that I don’t know very much more than I did after simply reading the blurb.

That doesn’t mean at all, though, that it is boring, or that it starts rather slow.

The first chapter, along with the blurb, builds an anticipation in the reader (or at least it did in me): how will it all unfold? Who are these people? Why is this all happening? How does it work and how will these “corpses” actually function?

I’m very excited about continuing this book. I can’t say much, especially without real spoilers (yes, I say that after only the first chapter!), but I’m still in love with the whole idea, and I can’t wait to find out how exactly will it be executed.

This Prelude and first chapter were a strong promise of a creative, dark, but in a way human fantasy with interesting lives and fates of characters.

That’s my part in this wonderful blog tour! Please, check out the other stops for this book, too!

And don’t forget that there are three more books involved in this tour, all written by the same author! Guys, this is HUGE!

Let’s check all the books and blog posts out! ๐Ÿ˜‰
