Thanks so much to Bibi for tagging me in this one! 💞
Apparently this time there’s no actual rules, we simply have to answer a couple of questions, then tag some people to do the same.
So, here are the questions and my answers!
1. What is your favourite genre?
This is actually kind of a funny question to ask from me, because I always thought myself to be genre-blind. I like to read different genres, and most of the time I change it from book to book. This tag doesn’t make sense this way, though, so for this purpose I’m going to choose mystery/thriller/crime. (I know it’s not that much of one separate genre, but it’s so common not to separate them. Come on. I tried really hard! 😅)
2. Who is your 1 author from that genre?
Uuuh, it’s so hard to choose! I know you guys don’t get a lot out of this, I’m not giving real answers… Sorry, I’ve just never been the kind of person who has a ‘favorite’ of everything. I don’t even have a favorite color. I love everything diverse. ☺️ No fave author, sorry.
3. What is it about the genre that keeps pulling you back?
Mysteries intrigue me! I love the suspense, the not being sure what is going on… I enjoy the guessing, I’m so content when I figure things out, and I’m even happier when a book can surprise me! Even as a kid I liked the stories where there was a mystery to be solved.
4. What is the book that started your love for that genre?
If I say crime, it’s always Agatha Christie that comes to mind first. My mother has more than 60 of her books, and since I’ve been a bookworm from the age of 5, I got to them pretty early. 12 years old, maybe. Figuring out the mystery fascinated me.
I also suspect my love for suspense at least partly comes from growing up waiting for the next Harry Potter book, and reading the ones already published over and over again to find even the tiniest clues for trying to figure out what was about to happen. 🤔😅
5. If you had to recommend at least 1 book from your favourite genre to a non-reader/someone looking to start reading this genre, what book would you choose and why?
This time I’ll choose classic crime as a genre, because I think that’s something people interested in finding out more about crime and mystery fiction should all experience.
That’s why I’d recommend to read Agatha Christie. She has many fantastic books, though of course having such a prolific life’s work she has some not so outstanding as well. I’d say you should read ‘Death on the Nile’ and ‘And Then There Were None’. Oh, and ‘The Murder of Roger Ackroyd’. If you haven’t already, I mean. 😅
6. Why do you read?
I read because I can’t imagine my life without it. How would I find out about all the things in the world that I don’t get to personally experience? How would I have learned to understand people who think differently than I do? How would I know how many other worlds are imaginable? Reading is an escape from life and it gives an understanding for life all at once. Reading is unique.
And reading is important.
…and of course everybody who’d like to do this tag! 😉
